What Is Pipe Aeration?

Smoking pipes date back hundreds of years, even farther back than do cigars. Smoking a pipe is a refined, relaxing pastime that offers worlds of enjoyment, as well. You'll find that while smoking is most definitely enjoyable, you'll need several pieces of equipment like tampers and pipe lighters, as well as an understanding of the various methodologies employed to ensure a cool, smooth, satisfying smoke. One of the most confusing aspects of smoking a pipe is that of pipe aeration. What is it? Why do you need to do it?

The process, itself, is not actually difficult, time consuming or hard to understand. A simple aerator tool will help ensure that your smoke remains cool, enjoyable and, most of all, burning. With the right packing methods, you might not need to use the tool, but you'll find that having such a tool on hand is a good idea, as there may be conditions in which correct packing is impossible, or there are other factors at work.

An aeration tool is little more than a straight, thin piece of metal. It really resembles nothing more than a paperclip that's been straightened (and you can use a paperclip in a pinch). You'll also find that you can purchase these tools singly if you prefer, but it's more convenient to purchase them as part of a set. Usually, these are three-piece sets that include a tamper, an aerator and a cleaner.

Aerating your pipe will require little effort, but it will necessitate a bit of caution. Simply insert the tip of the aerator into the lit tobacco in your pipe several times. You simply want to slide the tip into the packed tobacco - do not jab or twist it, as this can unpack your tobacco. The entire process is designed to enhance the amount of air reaching the heart of the tobacco, which will help to ensure that your pipe remains lit, your smoke remains cool and your experience is enjoyable.

Purchasing a pipe aerator is as simple task. As mentioned, you can find these devices almost anywhere. Any tobacconist, online or offline, will be able to provide you with a quality implement that will help ensure your smoking enjoyment and the quality of that smoke.

What kind of lighter is this??

My Grandpa recently gave me a lighter of his that hasn't worked in year but after a bit of meddling I got it working and I love it. The lighter is gold and isn't made like most lighters you'd see today, When you open the top there is a small pipe sticking up and which you click the button it causes butane to shoot out and light a small flame which stays lit light a regular zippo. The only thing on the lighter is a picture of an eagle flying with the words EAGLE DOUBLE-FLAME. Any idea who made this lighter and what its called??
And it takes butane which I already know.

does it look anything like this? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Brand-New-Double-Flame-Gas-Cigarette-Lighter_W0QQitemZ360071653810QQcmdZViewItem?IMSfp=TL080718119a17968#ebayphotohosting
